About the Author

R. Brandon Hunter, MD, FAAP

Brandon is a board certified pediatrician and pediatric ICU doc who works at Texas Children’s Hospital, which means that he works with children who are critically ill for one reason or another - usually it’s because one or more of their organs (for example their heart, lungs, or brain) is hurt and needs intensive monitoring or treatment.

He went to medical school at the University of Virginia. After that, he trained at Boston Children’s Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in general pediatrics for 3 years. During residency, trainees rotate through all the different pediatric medical specialties, inpatient wards, and outpatient clinics. He then did fellowship in critical care at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (University of Pennsylvania) for 3 more years, where he worked exclusively in the cardiac and general pediatric intensive care units.

When he isn’t at the patient bedside in the ICU, he does research to help develop new devices and digital health tools for children. And when he isn’t working he loves getting outside, mountain biking, spending time with his wife Alex and their two fur babies, Bobo (Mr. B) and Lady Bug (Lady B).
